# Enable the app embed

Turn on the AWE app embed in your theme so swatches can show.

Swatches only show on your store once the **AWE Color Swatches** app embed is on in your theme. It's a one-time step right after installing.

## 🛠️ Steps

{% step %}

### Open the setup guide

In the app, go to **Home**. In the **Setup guide**, open **Enable app embed** and click **Activate app**.

→ *You can also click **Activate** on the "AWE Color Swatch app is not activated yet." banner.*

→ *If the Setup guide already shows **3 / 3 completed**, the app embed is already enabled for the published theme and you can skip to* [*Set up your first swatches*](/awe-color-swatches/getting-started/set-up-your-first-swatches.md)*.*
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Switch the app on

Your theme editor opens on **App embeds**. Turn on **AWE Color Swatches**.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Save

Click **Save** in the top right corner of the theme editor.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Come back to the app

Return to the app tab — the step is ticked by itself. If the banner is still there, click **I have done it**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
The app checks your **published** theme. Turning the embed on in a draft theme doesn't count — turn it on again after you publish a new theme.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://awecommerce.gitbook.io/awe-color-swatches/getting-started/enable-app-embed.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
